EVENTS OF 1950 -1960 FROM THE LOGS OF THE BVFC

1950

Department was Named "Bozrah Volunteer Fire Company Inc."

and Officers were elected.

First Fire truck was purchased from Rye, N. Y. Fire Dept for the sum of $426.00. Mack Type AP-3, 750 Gallon capacity with a Triple Comb. pumping engine. Chasis No 681006.

Papers were sent to the Secretary of State to secure the Departments Charter.

Bozrah Volunteer Fire Company attends its first Parade in New london CT. The Chief put out that all members riding on the Fire Truck were to wear white hats and white shirts.

Company held its first Fire Drill

Equipment was purchased to remodel town hall to house the truck.

Company held its first Clam Bake in conjunction with the Fish and Game Club

1951

The department received 3 Rakes, 3 Brooms, 2 Shovels, and Two Water cans from the State of Connecticut to fight Brush fires.

The Department set a date of May 15th 1951 to "Start Operating as a Fire Company"

1952

Gilman Brothers donated a 280 gal booster tank and two tires.

Letter received from Underwriters Assoc. Passing of inspection and necessary equipment to operate.

Fire Company received $1000 from the Town.

The Department purchased the stone buildings across the street from Town Hall.

Fire Department Had 500 Calendars made and sold for $1.00 each.

The Warehouse Point Co. Was contacted to have workers at the plant become active members of the Fire Co. to answer alarms during the day. Such members to be given free dues in the Fire Co.

1953

First committee setup to open discussion with Lebanon's Fire Chief and Selectman for Mutual aid.

A letter was written to Mrs. Eva Rranmham regarding a mix up on the sunday fire.

A new roof ladder ordered.

Committee created to look into the purchase of a new fire truck through civil defense.
