THE CADET PROGRAM

Mission Statement

"To obtain and train future Firefighters and EMS personnel to the highest standards that are required and expected to protect the residents of the Town of Bozrah."

So, what is my role as a "CADET."

Cadets play a very important part in the everyday operation of the department and emergency calls. Additionally, you are the future of the Bozrah Volunteer Fire Company ! Many of our Officers and Town Officials were "Cadets" themselves. Under CT state laws, the actual duties of cadets will vary depending on their age. Once your membership is excepted these will be explained in further detail.

Some examples are:

You are required to maintain 5% of emergency call attendance and 20% of required training.

At the age of 16 you may submit a request to become a Medical Response Technician (MRT) or Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) and attend those courses.

At the age of 18, Cadet Members will be eligible to transfer to regular membership. If you are in good standing the required 30 day waiting period may be waived and you will be placed in a probationary status in the regular department in accordance with the BVFC By-Laws.
